Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson has officially recognised the African Muzik Magazine Awards Music Fest 2026, sending a welcome letter to organisers ahead of the event at the AT&T Performing Arts Center’s Annette Strauss Square.

AFRIMMA founder Anderson Obiagwu announced the recognition on Tuesday.

“A PROUD MOMENT FOR AFRIMMA! We are honoured to receive an official welcome letter from Dallas Mayor Eric L. Johnson recognising AFRIMMA Music Fest 2026 and our continued contribution to African music, culture, and diversity in Dallas,” Obiagwu said.

“Thank you, Mayor Johnson, and the City of Dallas, for your continued support!”

The Mayor’s Letter

In the letter, dated 12 September 2026, Johnson welcomed attendees and praised the awards’ decade-long presence in the city.

“For more than a decade, the African Muzik Magazine Awards has proudly made Dallas its home, growing into a platform that celebrates African artists and showcases the global influence of African music and culture,” Johnson wrote.

He noted that this year’s theme, “A Day in Africa,” continues that legacy by bringing together music, food, fashion and community.

“This vibrant celebration provides Dallas residents an opportunity to experience the beauty, traditions, and creativity of Africa culture,” the Mayor said.

He closed by wishing organisers a memorable, joyous and successful event.

AFRIMMA Music Fest 2026 takes place at the Annette Strauss Square. The event draws African artists, diaspora communities and Dallas residents for a day of music, cuisine and cultural showcases.
