Cardi B once again dominated the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps on May 4, 2026, embracing the “Fashion is Art” dress code with a surrealist, doll‑inspired custom look by Marc Jacobs.

Styled by Kollin Carter, the ensemble featured sheer Black floral lace over a nude base, with flesh‑toned padded forms creating exaggerated, segmented shapes reminiscent of German surrealist Hans Bellmer’s sculptures.

Massive padded sleeves and rounded, disjointed forms at the shoulders and hem delivered theatrical volume, while peekaboo pops of lavender, coral, and orange added playful contrast beneath the dark lace.

Though her gown hid her footwear, Cardi left her hotel in 9½‑inch pink knee‑high platform boots from Jacobs’ “Kiki” collection — a sky‑high commitment to fashion’s biggest night.

Arriving as one of the final guests alongside Madonna, Cardi revealed on the red carpet that she was actually sick with a fever. “I have a fever, but I wasn’t going to miss this,” she told reporters, proving her unwavering dedication.

The surrealist doll look, part of a theme pairing garments with works from the Met’s permanent collection, cemented Cardi B as a master of the Met Gala moment — fever and all.
