Nigerian superstar Ayra Starr has officially been presented with both Platinum and Diamond certification plaques for her hit collaboration “Hypé” with French-Malian singer Aya Nakamura.

Ayra Starr receives Platinum and Diamond certifications for 'Hype' with Aya Nakamura
The special presentation took place on Friday night at the Stade de France, where Ayra Starr appeared as an unannounced guest during Aya Nakamura’s headline concert.
The two artists performed “Hypé” live together, sending the 80,000-capacity crowd into a frenzy and giving fans a rare joint rendition of the transcontinental smash.
The certifications underscore the song’s remarkable streaming and sales performance since its release. The Diamond plaque, in particular, represents a milestone few African artists have reached with a cross-continental collaboration.
The Song Behind the Plaques
“Hypé” is an infectious, cross-cultural anthem originally released in early 2024 by French-Malian hitmaker Aya Nakamura, with its record-breaking remix featuring Nigerian powerhouse Ayra Starr propelling it to new heights.
The track masterfully blends Caribbean Zouk, smooth Kompa, and contemporary Afrobeats rhythms, produced by Chef Bandit and Josh, with pulsating rhythms and hypnotic, rhythmic basslines. It bridges cultures by seamlessly cutting between French and English verses.
Lyrically, the song serves as a fierce anthem about female independence and moving on, with both artists trading verses about leaving an unfaithful, toxic partner firmly in the past. Ayra Starr drives the message home with the punchy English line: “I won’t fall for all those stupid lies… you’re just someone I used to know.”
The vibrant, high-energy music video, shot on location in Lagos, Nigeria and directed by Yanis Challab, showcases Aya and Ayra delivering sharp choreography and high-fashion styling, celebrating a dynamic French-African creative alliance.
The surprise performance and plaque presentation turn a chart achievement into a memorable live moment, celebrating a partnership that bridges Lagos, Paris, and Bamako through rhythm and melody.
