Four-time Grammy-winning American music producer Dr Rickey “Slikk Muzik” Offord has named his newborn daughter after Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr.
He announced the birth on social media, revealing that his baby girl arrived on 21 September 2026.
“Love you, Ayra Starr Offord. 09.21.26. Daddy loves you for life,” he wrote.
The tribute quickly reached the singer herself. Ayra Starr reshared the announcement on her Instagram Story, acknowledging the gesture.
Ayra Starr released her third studio album, StarrGirl, in August. The 16-track project posted 3.94 million first-day global Spotify streams and debuted at number two on the platform’s Top Albums Debut Global chart. It held the top spot on Apple Music Nigeria for a full week.
Slikk Muzik, whose real name is Rickey Offord, has built a career producing for major American artists and has won four Grammy Awards.
The name choice extends Ayra Starr’s growing influence beyond music, placing her name on a child born in the United States to a producer with no prior public connection to her. It also marks a rare instance of an American industry figure honouring a Nigerian artist by naming a family member after them.
