Food, culture, music, and community are colliding in Delaware. The Afro-Foodie Festival, organised by the Delaware Africa Chamber of Commerce, is set to take over Rodney Square on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 PM.
Nigerian-born mistress of ceremonies MC McKinzie will host the event, bringing her signature high-energy stage presence to the biggest celebration of African and Caribbean culture in the area. Fresh off hosting the 18th Annual ACANA Festival in Philadelphia, she’s ready to keep the momentum going.
The one-day festival promises live Afrobeats performances and a high-energy “Battle of the DJs” that will keep the crowd moving. Foodies, get ready—the Jollof Rice Competition is the highlight of the culinary lineup, with bragging rights and prizes awaiting the best pot of rice in the building.
A Kids Zone with fun and games makes it a family-friendly outing, and great prizes and giveaways are up for grabs throughout the day.
Organisers are calling on vendors and performers to be part of this cultural showcase. Those interested can register to showcase their business to thousands of attendees.
The vibe is clear: “Good food. Good vibes. Happy Africans. Stronger community.” Rodney Square is about to become the heartbeat of the diaspora for one unforgettable Saturday.
Mark your calendars. Bring your appetite. MC McKinzie and the Delaware Africa Chamber of Commerce are ready to serve.
