Nigeria’s football queen, Asisat Oshoala, has added another glittering chapter to her record-breaking career, officially appointed as a CAF Ambassador by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The announcement was made during a ceremonial event in Rabat, with CAF Women sharing the news on X: “Welcome Asisat Oshoala, our new CAF Ambassador.”

At 30, Oshoala stands tall as the face of African women’s football, a six-time CAF African Women’s Player of the Year, four-time WAFCON champion, and an athlete who continues to redefine excellence on and off the pitch. Currently playing for Al Hilal in the Saudi Women’s Premier League, the Lagos-born striker now steps into a continental leadership role that extends beyond her playing career.
As CAF Ambassador, Oshoala will represent the federation at global events, promote CAF tournaments, mentor emerging players through youth programs, and champion social causes such as gender equality and women’s empowerment.

CAF described the appointment as a reflection of its “unwavering commitment to elevating women’s football and celebrating the athletes who inspire millions.”
Oshoala’s influence stretches far beyond her goals and trophies. From her early days in Mushin to global stardom with Barcelona Femeni, she has become a symbol of resilience, ambition, and purpose. Through her Asisat Oshoala Foundation, she has empowered young girls across Africa to dream bigger and aim higher.
