What began as a “wild thought” in 2018 has now blossomed into a full-fledged cultural festival. Deola Art-Alade, the visionary CEO of Livespot360, has officially announced the launch of the Detty December Fest, a landmark event set to position Nigeria’s festive season as a global cultural phenomenon.

After years of planning, setbacks, and resilience, the dream of transforming a catchy phrase into “Africa’s Real Summer” is now a reality.

Reflecting on the journey, Art-Alade shared: “Back in 2018, I had this wild thought: what if Detty December could be more than a catchy phrase? What if it could become Nigeria’s own cultural season, a time when the world turns its eyes to us? Darey called it Africa’s Real Summer!!!” In 2019, she registered Detty December, preparing for a 2020 launch—only for the COVID-19 pandemic to force a pause. Yet, the spirit endured. By 2021, Livespot released the “Detty December” song with producer Pheelz, ensuring the idea lived on.

The festival’s launch underscores Art-Alade’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s most innovative cultural architects. With a résumé that includes Love Like A Movie—which brought Kim Kardashian, Kelly Rowland, and Ciara to Nigeria—plus mega-productions like Livespot X Festival, The Voice Nigeria, and The Real Housewives of Lagos, her expertise in blending creativity, media, and marketing is unmatched.
Today, Detty December has evolved from slang to a cultural institution, representing a season of music, food, fashion, and community that resonates across the diaspora. The new festival will amplify that spirit, offering a global stage for African creativity while boosting tourism and cultural pride.
