Chidinma Uvere has arrived in Vietnam for the Miss Fitness Supermodel 2026 pageant, and her introduction at the sash ceremony has stirred pride across Nigeria and the continent.
Standing at the microphone, hands clasped, Uvere introduced herself as a representative of the Giant of Africa before the host bestowed the sash on her.
“My name is Chidinma Uvere, and with pride I stand before you representing the most popular African country in the world. I’m carrying with me the spirit of the nation that refuses to give up, and just by the minutes rises from every challenge. I am the Miss Fitness Supermodel Nigeria 2026, and I represent the ‘Giants of Africa’, Nigeria. Thank you,” she said.

The Abia State-born wore a full-length, off-the-shoulder mermaid gown made from vibrant Nigerian print fabric. The bodice featured a sweetheart neckline with a small bow at the centre, a cinched waist with wrap detail, and a flared mermaid hem.
Structured ruffled cap sleeves sat on both shoulders, with the same ruffle extending as a statement detail at the back. The bold geometric pattern—diamond, zigzag, and check motifs in bright pink, turquoise blue, cream and yellow on a black base—drew attention to her on stage.
Her sleek high ponytail, pulled into a top bun with faded sides, and dangling pearl earrings completed the look. She stood poised, confident, carrying the weight of a nation on her shoulders.
The ceremony took place in a competition hall with tiered tables marked with numbers, water bottles, glasses and small oil lamps on each table under warm stage lighting.
Uvere’s words echoed beyond the hall. For Nigerians watching from home, her introduction was more than a pageant line. It was a statement of identity—a young woman standing in a foreign country, draped in Ankara, refusing to be overlooked.
She now prepares for the main competition. Her team said she will continue training and advocacy appearances in Vietnam ahead of the grand final.
