Minister for Youth Development Ayodele Olawande on Monday received the newly crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026, Queen Tamunosoye “Soye” Karibi-George, on a courtesy visit to his office, where the beauty queen shared details of her “Beyond Labels” initiative and her vision for representing Nigeria on the global stage.

Karibi-George, a 26-year-old model and communications expert who represented Bayelsa State, claimed the national title in June 2026 in Lagos, outshining 19 other finalists to win the crown.
In remarks following the meeting, the minister expressed deep admiration for the queen’s platform, which champions inclusion, challenges stereotypes, and advocates for children with special needs.
“Beyond the crown and accolades, I was inspired by her passion for using her platform to promote inclusion, challenge stereotypes and drive positive social impact,” Olawande said. “Her journey is yet another reminder that Nigerian youth are not only talented and resilient, but are also leading conversations and initiatives that can transform lives and communities.”
The meeting comes as Karibi-George prepares to depart for Vietnam, where she will compete at the Miss World global finals. The minister said he encouraged her to continue serving as a worthy ambassador of Nigerian values, excellence, and the limitless potential of the nation’s youth.

Olawande reaffirmed the Ministry of Youth Development’s commitment to backing young Nigerians who leverage their influence for meaningful change. “I wish Queen Soye every success as she carries the Nigerian flag with pride before the world,” he added.
