While the rest of the world prepares for the spectacle of Super Bowl LX, one woman at the center of the storm is wondering what all the fuss is about.
Justina Emmanwori, the mother of Seattle Seahawks breakout rookie safety Nick Emmanwori, has gone viral for her refreshingly honest take on America’s biggest sporting event.
“Maybe This is Something Big”
Justina, originally from Nigeria, where soccer is king, admitted in an interview with ABC Columbia’s Noah Chast that she doesn’t fully understand the cultural gravity of the game.
“Maybe this is something big that I don’t know,” she said with a shrug. “Everybody keeps asking me, ‘Do you know how many people die to go to the Super Bowl?’ I’m like, how?” Despite her confusion over the hype, her goal for Sunday remains simple: “All I’m going there for is to shout, ‘Yay, Super Bowl! Touchdown! We win!'”
Injury Scare Averted
The Emmanwori family’s journey to the Bay Area included a mid-week scare when Nick, a finalist for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, rolled his right ankle during Wednesday’s practice.
However, Seahawks fans can breathe easy. After being held out of practice on Thursday, the 21-year-old safety was a full participant on Friday, February 6, 2026. Head coach Mike Macdonald officially cleared him for the game, jokingly telling reporters, “No designation for Nick… Turns out he’s alive”.

Super Bowl LX: Rematch for the Ages
The Seahawks (14-3) face the New England Patriots (14-3) in a highly anticipated rematch of Super Bowl XLIX.
Emmanwori enters the game as a cornerstone of the Seattle defence, having recorded 81 tackles and 11 passes defensed during a regular season that saw him earn the top grade among safeties from several analysts.
While he may be a “football savant” to his coaches, to Justina, he is simply “Nicholas,” and she expects him to bring home a ring—and perhaps several more in the years to come.
