The project, catalysed by Cenat’s emotional first visit to the Makoko community in March 2024, has evolved into a structured $5 million plan. After witnessing overcrowded conditions, Cenat pledged to fund and construct a new educational facility.

Progress has been substantial, with over $1.1 million already raised through his Kai Cenat Foundation Inc., including a significant portion of revenue from his “Mafiathon 3” livestream.

A key development has been the strategic relocation of the school’s site from the challenging waterfront terrain of Makoko to nearby Yaba.

This decision, made in partnership with the Nigerian law firm Banwo & Ighodalo and the educational network Enko Education, ensures feasible construction while guaranteeing free education for Makoko students. The model will also include tuition-based spots to ensure sustainability.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s official reception underscores the project’s scale and the state’s recognition of influencers as partners in development.

For Cenat, the initiative aims to create a lasting legacy “beyond streaming” to welcome students within the next two years, transforming online influence into tangible community impact.
