The global rise of Ayra Starr has taken yet another historic leap, as the GRAMMY Museum announces a special evening dedicated to the Nigerian superstar.
Set for Monday, December 16, 2025, at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, the event positions Ayra as a defining voice of a new musical era.
Titled “A New York Evening with Ayra Starr,” the program solidifies her status as a cultural force reshaping the sound, style, and spirit of Afrobeats. It’s an honor reserved for artists who have made undeniable contributions to global music—and at just 23, Ayra has earned her seat at that table.
Beginning at 7:30 PM, the evening will open with an in-depth conversation moderated by acclaimed journalist J’na Jefferson. Attendees will be treated to a closer look at Ayra’s creative process, her journey from Nigeria to global fame, and the making of her chart-dominating album, The Year I Turned 21.
After the talk, Ayra will deliver an intimate performance, offering stripped-back versions of fan favorites like “Rush,” “Comma,” and “Bloody Samaritan.”
The GRAMMY Museum’s recognition underscores Ayra’s pivotal role in elevating Afrobeats on the world stage with over 1.2 billion Spotify streams.
