The award, presented at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, recognises her powerful theme song “You Are” for the Nigerian animated superhero series Iyanu. The series is adapted from the acclaimed graphic novel Iyanu: Child of Wonder by Roye Okupe. Alade’s track triumphed over strong contenders from across the continent, including entries from Ghana’s Oscar Heman-Ackah and Senegal’s legendary Ismaël Lo.

Sharing the news on social media, Alade expressed her gratitude to AFRIMA and framed the win as a motivational message for the year ahead. “This is a reminder to NOT put your eggs in one basket this year!” she stated. “Let’s diversify and predict possible futures while moving with the power of the lord almighty!”

The award highlights the growing synergy between Africa’s music and film industries. The star-studded ceremony, which celebrated the theme “Unstoppable Africa,” saw other top honours awarded to Rema for Artist of the Year and Burna Boy, whose album No Sign of Weakness was named Album of the Year.
