President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after securing a landmark creative and digital economy investment deal with French billionaire Vincent Bolloré.
The presidential aircraft, Nigerian Air Force One, landed at the presidential wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at 6:22 p.m. local time on Tuesday, 29 September 2026. This concludes his four-week working vacation in Europe, which included business stops in London and Paris.
The Paris Deal
During the Paris leg of his trip on 18 September 2026, Tinubu held extensive talks with Vincent Bolloré, chairman of the Bolloré Group. The conglomerate controls global entertainment subsidiaries including Universal Music Group, Canal+ and MultiChoice.
The Bolloré Group officially committed to deepening the localisation of its infrastructure, talent development and production processes within Nigeria.
The investments will target Afrobeats music production, Nollywood film distribution, digital media and fibre-optic infrastructure.
Tinubu said his Renewed Hope Agenda aims to ensure the global commercial success of Nigerian talent translates directly into local jobs and improved livelihoods for young people.
Bolloré executives described Nigeria as the “spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance,” citing the booming international appetite for Nigerian music and pop culture.
The Arrival
Tinubu was received on the tarmac by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside political allies and security chiefs.
Security operatives tightly controlled the arrival terminal. Journalists present were restricted and actively barred from capturing close-up visuals or footage of the President disembarking from Air Force One.
Instead of flying directly to Abuja, Tinubu touched down in Lagos to attend a movie premiere honouring the late Chief MKO Abiola. He will also host strategy sessions with political associates ahead of the 2027 election campaign cycle.
He is expected to return to Abuja after the Independence Day commemorations.
