Nigerian singer Tems has been nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist at the 2026 BET Awards, adding another major international honour to her growing list of accolades.

The two-time Grammy winner is featured alongside Ari Lennox, Coco Jones, Ella Mai, Jill Scott, Kehlani, Mariah the Scientist, Olivia Dean, and SZA in the competitive category. Cardi B leads the overall nominations with six nods, followed by Kendrick Lamar and Mariah the Scientist with five each.

Tems has been widely praised for her distinctive voice and introspective songwriting. Her debut album Born in the Wild earned critical acclaim, with Pitchfork noting that she “confronts the pressures of stardom through a tender, melancholic exploration of pre-fame traumas.” Clash Magazine described her as a vocalist who “blends the spiritual with the carnal, the introspective with the exuberant.”

The singer previously won the BET Award for Best International Act in 2022, becoming the first African female artist to do so.

The 2026 BET Awards will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 28, with comedian Druski as host. Nigerian fans will be watching closely as Tems seeks to add another trophy to her collection.
