Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems has secured another major Hollywood placement, with her introspective track “Hold On” featuring prominently in Tyler Perry‘s drama-romance Doing Life, which premiered exclusively on Netflix on 2 October 2026.
The song serves as the closing track on her 2024 debut album, Born in the Wild.
“Hold On” plays during the film’s opening sequence, setting a soulful and evocative tone for the narrative.
The track explores themes of perseverance, surviving past hardships and reflecting on a long journey — elements that mirror the central struggles of the film’s characters.
Written and directed by Tyler Perry, Doing Life stars Naomi Baker and Jay Reeves.
The story follows Anika, a struggling single mother working as a correctional officer, and Carousel, a reformed ex-convict striving to rebuild his life after prison. The two form an unexpected bond, navigating their difficult circumstances while exploring hope, love and second chances.
The placement adds to Tems’ expanding international profile. She won a Grammy for her contribution to Future’s “Wait for U” and has collaborated with Drake, Wizkid and Beyoncé. Her music has appeared on multiple film soundtracks, including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
