The high-octane energy of Lagos has found a new digital ambassador this festive season. South African attorney-turned-travel-activist Kgopotjo Lebepe has officially arrived in Nigeria’s commercial capital to immerse herself in the world-renowned “Detty December” festivities.
Lebepe, who has built a massive following by documenting her journey to visit 30 countries before the age of 30, took to social media to announce her arrival.
Sharing a vibrant montage of video clips showing her touchdown in the city, she expressed her sheer thrill at checking off another milestone.
“Lagos, Nigeria! Ohhhh, I’m so excited to be in my 13th country!” Lebepe shared with her followers. “Y’all said we ain’t spending New Year’s in our countries anymore, and of course I listened! I really can’t wait to see what is good in Lagos!”
Capturing the “Detty” Spirit
The arrival marks a major shift from her recent academic focus on property law to the vibrant chaos of Lagosian culture. Lebepe is expected to produce a series of high-production travel vlogs focusing on the “soft life” and cultural depth of Nigeria.
A Tourism Activist on the Move
Beyond the parties, Lebepe’s visit serves a strategic purpose. As a “tourism activist,” her content aims to bridge the gap between South African and West African travel markets.
Having recently launched 2026 travel packages through Inclusive Trips, her time in Lagos is seen as a scouting mission to integrate more Nigerian destinations into her curated group experiences.
While the city’s notorious holiday traffic can be daunting, Lebepe’s infectious excitement suggests she is ready for the “sensory overload” that defines a Nigerian New Year.
