Simon Guobadia, the Nigerian-born businessman and estranged husband of Porsha Williams, is publicly disputing the narrative surrounding their recent divorce, claiming he was “totally blindsided” and “targeted… for financial reasons.”
In a recent interview, Guobadia accused the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star of exploiting him, painting her as an opportunist who “targeted” him during a vulnerable period following his previous divorce.
Williams filed for divorce in February 2024, citing a change in her ex-husband. However, Guobadia dismisses this, labeling the end of their 14-month marriage “a coup.” He stated he repeatedly asked Williams why she filed, but she remained silent, and he also lost contact with her family, leading him to believe the divorce was pre-planned.
Guobadia revealed to Page Six that Williams had messaged him on social media “praying for me” after his divorce from “RHOA” alum Falynn Guobadia was finalized. He admitted to being in a “vulnerable position” at the time and that the swift engagement—30 days after their romance began—was impulsive, stating, “I was out of my goddamn mind to have done that. Of course, I’m paying dearly for it.”
The divorce ruling upheld the terms of their prenuptial agreement, granting Williams $560,000 in alimony and their marital home in Atlanta, among other benefits. Guobadia plans to appeal the decision, emphasizing he has never contested past prenups, but felt uniquely “targeted” by Williams.
Guobadia, who migrated to the U.S. in 1982, founded Simcol Petroleum Limited Company in 2007 and has also worked as an executive producer on films like “Jail House Dogs” (2012), “Kill” (2019), and “Son of the South” (2020). He is a father of five from previous relationships.
The couple married twice in Atlanta in November 2022—first in a luxurious Nigerian traditional ceremony, followed by an extravagant American ceremony—both of which Williams once described as “a dream come true.”
While Guobadia insists he was targeted, Williams reportedly attributes the split to a change in his character and alleged issues with his “complex legal status” that she tried to help rectify.
Their differences reportedly escalated during an argument on Valentine’s Day 2024, leading to her divorce filing.
