Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, received the reigning Miss World Nigeria 2026, Queen Tamunosoye Karibi-George, at the Government House in Port Harcourt ahead of her departure for the 75th Miss World Festival in Vietnam.
The beauty queen briefed the governor on her advocacy platforms, the “Beyond Labels Initiative” and the “Beauty With A Purpose” project, which focus on youth empowerment and disability inclusion. She announced that the international pageant will run from 9 August to 5 September 2026 and requested Rivers State’s support for her humanitarian programmes.
Governor Fubara congratulated Karibi-George on her national victory and described her as a blend of beauty and intellect representing the Ijaw Nation. “We are proud of you and will support your journey,” he said. He pledged his administration’s backing and offered prayers for her success in Vietnam.
Karibi-George, who traces her heritage to Rivers and Bayelsa, was accompanied by her father, Mr Karibi George, Team Lead Ambassador Prince Iwefa and other dignitaries. The visit formalised the state’s endorsement of her international bid.
The governor’s office is expected to approve a partnership package for her humanitarian projects before she departs for Vietnam.
