Rema

Rema is heading to Rwanda for one of the continent’s most unique cultural events. The Afrobeats superstar will headline the main entertainment event of the 21st Kwita Izina Gorilla Naming Ceremony, the Rwanda Development Board has announced.

The concert is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the BK Arena in Kigali. It serves as the grand finale to the two-day celebration, following the main naming ceremony on Friday, September 4, in Kinigi, Musanze District.

This year’s event will celebrate the naming of 22 baby mountain gorillas under the official theme, “Conservation is Life: Sustaining the Future.” The lineup also features local and regional artists, including Rwandan singer Kivumbi King, alongside Rema’s headline set.

The Kwita Izina ceremony has become one of Rwanda‘s most significant annual events, drawing global attention to the country’s conservation efforts and its success in protecting the endangered mountain gorilla population.

For Rema, this is another major milestone in a year that has already seen him announce his new single “TEA” and secure a luxury property in Dubai. Now he’s adding gorilla conservation to his growing list of achievements.

Kigali is about to get a heavy dose of Afrobeats energy. And 22 baby gorillas are getting names. September 5 can’t come soon enough.
