Nigerian singer-songwriter and global sensation, Rema, has joined the latest funding round for the fast-growing skincare brand Topicals.
The investment was announced on Wednesday and includes participation from WNBA star Angel Reese, Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Kelly Rowland, Gabrielle Union, and others.

Rema’s Role in the Company
Beyond his financial investment, Rema will also serve as a creative partner for Topicals. In this role, he is set to advise the brand on strategies to connect with younger consumers, particularly men, as the company plans to widen its customer base.
This move aligns with founder Olamide Olowe’s vision of involving “people who control culture” as investors, rather than traditional institutional investors.
Funding Details
Terms of the individual investments were not disclosed. However, Topicals, since its launch in 2020 by Olamide Olowe, has raised over $22.6 million in total funding. The brand is well-known for popular products like its Faded Serum for dark spots and hyperpigmentation and its under-eye masks.
Brand Vision
Olowe emphasised that the brand is “betting on culture,” bringing in investors who are already part of the Topicals community and engaged with its products.
This approach aims to prioritise cultural resonance and originality as the operating environment for culture-led brands becomes more challenging. The brand is available in the US, UK, Canada, Nigeria, and France.
