The Nigerian film industry is in shock following the death of actress and producer Allwell Ademola on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

The 43-year-old reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at her Lagos residence and was pronounced dead at Ancilla Hospital.

The granddaughter of Nigeria’s first indigenous Chief Justice, Ademola, was a powerhouse who transitioned from a child star on NTA’s Tales by Moonlight to a respected director and musician. Known for her versatility in both Yoruba and English cinema, her notable credits include Moms at War, Ile Wa, and False Flag.

Colleagues, including Faithia Williams and Mide Martins, have flooded social media with tributes, describing the loss as a “Black Saturday” for African cinema.
