In a game-changing stride for African cinema, Nollywood giants Inkblot Studios and Filmhouse Group have unveiled Kava, a dedicated global streaming platform for Nollywood and African stories, slated for launch in late August 2025.

Positioned to become the go-to home for African storytelling, Kava will debut with over 30 premium Nollywood titles from Nigeria and the African diaspora, including exclusive post-theatrical releases and a diverse mix of genres. Weekly content drops will keep audiences engaged, with early offerings like Alakada Bad and Boujee, Owambe Thieves (featuring Zubby Michael, Odunlade Adekola, and Sola Sobowale), What About Us with Kuni Remi and Uzor Arukwe, and House Job starring Erica Nlewedim.

With Netflix and Amazon Prime slowing down African original commissions, Kava steps in to bridge the gap, capitalizing on Nollywood’s status as the world’s second-largest film industry by volume and responding to rising demand from African and diaspora audiences.

Backed by the industry clout of Inkblot Studios—pioneers in landmark streaming deals with Netflix and Amazon—and Filmhouse Group, operators of West Africa’s largest cinema network and leading distributor FilmOne Entertainment, Kava promises both reach and sustainability.

“Kava is more than a streaming service; it’s a cultural mission,” said Kava co-CEO Kene Okwuosa of Filmhouse. “We’re building a trusted, lucrative stage where Nollywood talent can flourish, innovation can thrive, and African creativity can resonate worldwide.”

Inkblot’s co-founder Chinaza Onuzo echoed the sentiment, calling Kava “a bold new chapter” that will redefine global perceptions of African storytelling. The platform aims to nurture emerging talent, offer fair and transparent revenue models, and ensure Nollywood’s finest stories achieve the global recognition they deserve.

For Nollywood and the global film industry, Kava represents more than just another streaming option, it’s a strategic cultural export, positioning Nigeria’s cinematic voice on equal footing with Hollywood, Bollywood, and beyond.
