Niyi Akinmolayan’s highly anticipated Afrofusion epic, Colours of Fire, has officially debuted with a powerful ₦51 million opening weekend.

Released on December 24, 2025, the film achieved this milestone despite fierce competition during Nollywood’s busiest holiday window, headlined by Funke Akindele’s record-breaking Behind The Scenes.

Produced by Anthill Studios in collaboration with FilmOne and Imuetinyan Productions, the fantasy thriller stars Osas Ighodaro and Uzor Arukwe.

However, the financial success has been shadowed by a public distribution dispute. Director Niyi Akinmolayan took to social media to accuse several cinema houses of “sabotage,” alleging they accepted ticket payments but diverted audiences to other films or cancelled showtimes without notice.

Despite these theatrical hurdles, the ₦51 million haul cements Colours of Fire as a top-tier performer for 2025. Industry analysts suggest that if the screening issues are resolved, the film’s unique visual effects and “Afrofusion” aesthetic could sustain strong momentum through the New Year.

For now, the epic remains a central figure in both box office charts and the ongoing debate over fair cinema distribution.
