The MFM Mountain Top Chorale won two gold medals and was crowned overall winner in the Spiritual Category at the 14th World Choir Games, becoming the first Nigerian choir to claim the title.
Competing as the sole African representative, the choir scored 87.38 points in the Champions Competition to secure the spiritual category crown. It also claimed a separate gold medal in the Sacred Music with Accompaniment category, completing a double victory on the global stage.
The group was led by choral director Oluwasegun Okedunmola. The competition, organised by INTERKULTUR and widely referred to as the Olympics of choral music, featured more than 160 choirs from 40 countries. The Nigerian national anthem was played during the awards ceremony before an international audience.
The victory extends a decade of consistent international preparation. The choir previously competed at the 2024 World Choir Games in Auckland, New Zealand, where it also recorded strong placements.
The choir is expected to return to Nigeria later this week. A formal reception is being planned at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries headquarters in Lagos.
