The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has announced an ambitious roadmap for Nigeria’s cultural industries, revealing that the ministry aims to contribute a staggering $100 billion to the Nigerian economy by 2030.
Speaking to State House Correspondents on Monday following the sixth Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of the year, Musawa disclosed that the council approved a memo to monetise Nigeria’s tangible and intangible assets across the creative, cultural, and tourism sectors.
“The goal is clear,” she stated. “We’re unlocking the power of Nigerian fashion, music, film, heritage, and tourism—this is not just about cultural preservation but serious economic transformation.”
Musawa emphasized that Nigeria is ready to leverage its global cultural influence, from Nollywood to Afrobeats, traditional festivals to fashion runways, to attract investment and drive GDP growth.
The $100 billion projection reflects a renewed national strategy to position Nigeria as #Africa’s cultural capital—harnessing local talents, creating jobs, and exporting soft power.
With this bold move, Nigeria signals its intent to compete on the global stage—not just as a cultural icon, but as an economic powerhouse powered by creativity.
