Mercy Echereozo wins Best in Swimwear at Miss Independent

Nigeria has claimed the Best in Swimwear title at the Miss Independent International 2026 pageant, as Mercy Echereozo emerged with the highest number of votes on the Eventista 1Vote platform.

The official announcement confirmed that Mercy earned the top spot in the swimwear category, also receiving the “MMII Best Body 2026” distinction. The victory marks Nigeria’s first win in the competition’s swimwear category.

The top three vote-getters were Mercy (Nigeria), Bianca Louis (Haiti), and Prayashre Bahalia (India), who will receive “Hope Star” boosting points during the People’s Choice segment of the competition.

“Congratulations to Echereozo Mercy from Nigeria for earning the highest number of votes on Eventista’s 1Vote platform and proudly claiming the title of Best in Swimwear in Miss Independent,” the pageant organisation announced.

The Miss Independent International pageant, held in Bangkok from April 20 to April 27, celebrates independent, accomplished women from across the globe. The Grand Finals will take place on April 26 at the Calypso Cabaret Bangkok.

Mercy, a 23-year-old Public Administration graduate from the Federal Polytechnic in Imo State, continues to impress judges and voters alike as she competes for the overall crown.

With the swimwear category secured, Nigeria remains in strong contention for the main title as the pageant enters its final days.

Nigerians at home and in the diaspora have rallied behind their queen, whose poise and dedication have already earned international recognition.

The final coronation will determine who takes home the ultimate crown.
