Nigeria has officially begun construction on a state-of-the-art indoor arena at the heart of the Abuja City Walk megacity, marking a transformative moment for the nation’s entertainment and events industry following President Bola Tinubu’s approval of the landmark project.
The Abuja City Walk Arena, a 13,000-seat venue, is set to become Nigeria’s largest indoor sports and entertainment facility.
The project is part of the larger 250-hectare Abuja City Walk mixed-use smart city development, located along the high-growth Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Road corridor.
The arena’s groundbreaking was part of a master plan unveiling ceremony led by President Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Designed by world-renowned architecture firm Benoy, the arena will feature a striking, modern LED façade and will serve as a premier destination for global concerts, major indoor sporting events, and international conferences.
“The Abuja City Walk is a shining symbol of what can be achieved when political will meets private sector expertise and capital,” President Tinubu said during the launch. He reassured investors that Nigeria is “open for business” and that the administration is committed to creating a secure investment climate.
The project is being developed through a Public-Private Partnership led by MAG International Links Limited.
The arena is expected to be completed by December 2028, positioning Nigeria as a major hub for global entertainment and large-scale events.
