Nigeria’s Sambo Unwana Essien has clinched the 3rd Runner-Up position at the Mister Continental World 2026 international finals in Thailand, capping a run that also earned him two special awards.
Before the final placements, Essien won the King of King title and the Best National Attire Award.
The King of King honour is one of the competition’s most prestigious special titles, recognising the standout male delegate of the edition. The Best National Attire Award celebrates the most outstanding cultural costume of the competition.
He shared the Top 5 stage alongside Karnajit Ningthoujam of India, who won the ultimate title; Thailand claimed 1st Runner-Up, and France took 2nd Runner-Up, while Glendon Gonzales of the Philippines finished as 4th Runner-Up.
Essienm, also known online as King Unwana Sambo, was crowned nationally by the EliteGlam Nigeria organisation.
His placement came at the same event where his counterpart, Oma Osele Iruomachukwu, won the ultimate Miss Continental World 2026 title — making history for Nigeria. She also won Queen of Africa and Best National Attire in the female category.
The double victory means Nigeria produced both the Miss Continental World winner and a top-five finisher in the male category, with both delegates also taking home national attire honours on the same night.
