Nigerian comedian and musician Nasboi has opened up about the professional and personal toll of media misrepresentation, singling out the constant twisting of his comments about superstar Davido.

In a recent appearance on 3Music TV’s The Big Conversation, the skit-maker-turned-singer explained how entertainment blogs have repeatedly exploited his public association with Davido for clicks.

He pointed to a specific interview clip where he clarified that Davido is a mentor figure rather than a close personal friend. That snippet, he said, was stripped of context, leading to a wave of online backlash that branded him “ungrateful.”

“The blogs know exactly what they are doing,” Nasboi noted, describing a toxic culture that prioritises virality over truthful conversation. He admitted that the pressure once made him fearful of being “cancelled,” but he has since grown more confident and is no longer afraid to call out those who manipulate his words to damage his brand.

Beyond the Davido narrative, Nasboi reflected on the intense pressure of the Nigerian entertainment space, where a high volume of competing media outlets constantly fuels damaging narratives.

He previously revealed that this scrutiny contributed to a bout of depression last year, underscoring that celebrities are human and equally vulnerable to anxiety and public judgment.
