Danielle Adewusi has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2026, completing a pageant journey that began 35 years ago in her own family.
Adewusi, who competed as Miss Lagos, is the daughter of Anthonia Okogbenin, who won the same title in 1991. She became the first daughter of a former queen to claim the exact national crown her mother once held.
She campaigned under the fan tag #TheCrownIsMedical, leaning into her background as a medical doctor and her advocacy work in women’s health.
Adewusi founded Scrub the Stigma, a charity focused on women’s health education, covering school outreach, medical bill support for vulnerable mothers and self-advocacy training for young women. The initiative has reached thousands nationally and internationally over three years.
She will represent Nigeria at the 75th Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico this November.
