The announcement was posted on the official Miss Grand USA Instagram page on 19 August 2026. Li was released from the title and all associated duties.

“This decision was made in accordance with contractual policies outlined by the Miss Grand USA organisation,” the statement read. It added that the organisation “stands firmly against bullying, harassment, defamation, degrading remarks and personal attacks of any kind.”

The organisation did not disclose the specific contractual breach. Pageant community reports indicate that Li failed to disclose a previous marriage, which violates Miss Grand International eligibility rules. She is also reportedly facing separate legal proceedings related to an automobile accident.

Li was crowned Miss Grand USA 2026 on 10 August 2026. She will no longer represent the United States at the upcoming Miss Grand International pageant.

No successor has been named. The organisation is expected to announce a replacement before the international competition begins. It has not said whether the first runner-up will assume the title or if a new selection process will be held.
