Skarlent Rodríguez, who held the title of Miss Grand Orlando 2025, tragically died following a powerful earthquake that struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026. She was 24 years old.
Rescue teams discovered the bodies of Rodríguez and her boyfriend, José Castro, on June 29, 2026, side‑by‑side beneath the rubble of their apartment building in Catia La Mar, La Guaira, after a lengthy search and recovery operation.

The Miss Grand International organisation, alongside Miss Grand Florida, has expressed profound sorrow and released statements of condolence.
“With profound sorrow, we mourn the tragic passing of Skarlent Rodríguez, Miss Grand Orlando 2025, following the devastating earthquake that struck Venezuela,” the organisation said. “We extend our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, and all those affected by this heartbreaking disaster.
