Dr Mariam Akinsanya is engaged. The medical doctor and lifestyle creator shared the news across her social platforms today, posting photos from a proposal set against one of the world’s most dramatic coastlines.
The setting was unmistakable. Towering, mist-covered mountains dropped into sweeping ocean waves—the cliffs of Camps Bay Beach and the Twelve Apostles range in Cape Town, part of Table Mountain National Park. Her partner knelt on the rocky shoreline, holding her hand as he slid the ring on.
She wore a floor-length light pink gown with full sleeves and a draped cape detail, finished with a classic Black hijab. He kept it relaxed in a vertically striped short-sleeve shirt and matching trousers. A hit song, “Stand By Me,” played over the photos.
Her caption was three words: “Fi Dunya wal Akhirah.” The Arabic phrase translates to “in this world and the Hereafter”—a prayer for goodness in both lives, often offered at major milestones.
The engagement lands months after Akinsanya completed her medical education at Afe Babalola University as part of the Eximius Set, culminating in her induction into the profession earlier this year.
She has not disclosed her fiancé’s identity or a wedding date. For now, the couple is keeping that private.
