Nigerian content creator known as Mama Odoguw has issued a blistering response to South African xenophobic agitator Phakel’umthakathi, who recently threatened Nigerians and other African immigrants, demanding they close their businesses and leave the country.
“Can you please show the world your own establishment in your own country?” Mama Odoguw challenged. “Show us your own successful business that you are doing in your own country, yet you are looking for Nigerians to loot.”
She urged Nigerian entrepreneurs in South Africa not to be intimidated, reminding them that they are hardworking, legal residents who built their businesses with their own sweat and savings. “South Africa did not give you money to establish those things. It took you years to build those businesses.”
Drawing a line, she warned: “Do not allow those cows, zombies, dogs to intimidate you. Protect your business in whichever way you can. Naija no dey carry last.”
Her remarks come after Phakel’umthakathi issued a May 24 ultimatum for Nigerians to close all shops, threatening to inspect compliance.
Mama Odogwu insisted that Nigerians have every right to defend their livelihoods. “You have every right to protect your business, whichever way you can. Make una no gree for anybody, but do not let them stop you before you stop them.”
