Nigerian singer, dancer, and content creator Korra Obidi has revealed plans for a major live concert collaboration with Afrobeat scion Seun Kuti and his legendary father’s band, Egypt 80, on home soil this July.
The announcement, shared via her social media platforms on Thursday, signals a full-circle moment for the Los Angeles-based performer, who first shared a stage with Kuti last year in France.
Obidi’s statement radiated both reverence and exhilaration. “I’m proud to announce a Live Concert collab with @bigbirdkuti and the @egypt80band,” she wrote. “He has always been an inspiration to me—the biggest bird. Playing with him in France was incredible, and now I’ll be playing with him in Nigeria in July. You will be able to watch from all over the world.”

The concert, which she describes as a birthday gift to her fans — “June is my birthday month, and this is gonna be a thank you to all my lovers” — will see Obidi perform songs from her catalogue live alongside the politically charged, horn-driven powerhouse that is Egypt 80. The pairing bridges two distinct generations: Korra’s modern, dancehall-infused Afrobeats and Amapiano flair, and Seun Kuti’s guardianship of the raw, polyrhythmic Afrobeat tradition pioneered by his father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

Their onstage chemistry is already proven. In August 2025, Kuti flew Obidi to France to join him and Egypt 80 at the prestigious Jazz à la Villette festival. Viral clips from that night captured Obidi’s high-octane choreography locked into the band’s thunderous grooves, a fusion that critics called electrifying and spiritually charged. In her announcement, Obidi echoed that sentiment: “Being on stage was so surreal, channelling all the energies of the motherland. Awakening the ancestors and dancing all night long.”
For Korra Obidi — born Anita Chukwumfumnaya Obidi — the upcoming concert underscores a steady ascent that has blended digital dominance with live performance credibility. A former So You Think You Can Dance competitor, AFRIMMA Best Dancer nominee, and Nollywood child actor, she has amassed a social media following exceeding three million on Instagram alone. Her recent albums, including ALA (2026) and LAVA (2025), have showcased a restless creative energy that now finds a natural counterpart in Seun Kuti’s muscular, improvisational sets.

Details on the exact July date and venue in Nigeria remain under wraps, but Obidi assured fans that a livestream option will make the concert globally accessible. “A ticket to watch the Concert live will soon be available, so stay glued to my page,” she urged. “It is an honour to be performing in July with this Legend and The Band.”
The collaboration marks another chapter in Obidi’s ongoing relationship with the Kuti dynasty. She has previously visited the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos and paid respects at Fela’s grave, signalling a deep personal connection to the roots of the sound she now interprets for a global, digital-first audience.

With this July concert, that reverence transforms into a shared stage under the Nigerian sky, promising a night where ancestral rhythm meets the pulse of a new generation.
