Acclaimed Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has announced she is now a three-time Guinness World Record holder after receiving an unexpected notification that a previous attempt secured a second, simultaneous title.

The chef shared the news on social media with a mix of shock and elation. “Woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it,” Baci wrote. She explained she discovered the achievement five months after the initial event while casually checking her email.

The new record is for the “Largest serving of rice,” a title proactively awarded by Guinness World Records (GWR). Officials determined that her successful attempt for the “Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice” on September 12, 2025—a dish weighing 8,780 kg—also qualified for the broader category.

“What I didn’t know, until now, is that on that same day, we had also broken the record for the largest serving of rice overall,” Baci stated.

She dedicated the win to her collaborator Oreoluwa Atinmo, her team, and her supporters, viewing the surprise as a divine blessing. “This feels like such a beautiful reminder that even when you think you’ve seen the full picture, God can still say, ‘There’s more.'”

This brings her total certified Guinness World Records to three, following her pioneering 2023 marathon cooking record and the specific jollof rice title.
