Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially added a third Guinness World Record (GWR) to her name after a review confirmed her latest culinary feat also set a new global benchmark.
The chef, renowned for her previous marathon cooking record, has been awarded the title for the “Largest serving of rice.”
One Historic Cook, Two World Records
The new record was proactively awarded by GWR officials in January 2026 after they determined that Baci’s successful attempt for the “Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice” on September 12, 2025, also qualified for the broader category. The monumental dish, prepared in Victoria Island, Lagos, alongside chef Gino, weighed a staggering 8,780 kilograms (over 19,356 lbs).
This achievement brings her total certified Guinness World Records to three, cementing her status as a global record-setting icon. The confirmation came in a congratulatory message from Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering at GWR, who wrote, “Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing (again)!”
The Scale of a Record-Breaking Feast
The record-breaking serving was a logistical masterpiece, requiring 4,000 kg of basmati rice, 1,200 kg of tomato paste, and 600 kg of onions. The ingredients were cooked in a custom-made pot holding 22,619 litres, ultimately producing over 16,600 plates of jollof rice that were shared with the public.
A Growing Legacy of Excellence
Baci first captured the world’s attention in 2023 by setting the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. While that title has since been surpassed, her focus has shifted to large-scale culinary statements that showcase Nigerian cuisine.
This latest accolade for the largest rice serving is seen as a significant milestone for both her career and the international recognition of Nigerian food culture.
Her accomplishment highlights a strategic and ambitious approach to record-setting, transforming a single attempt into a dual victory that continues to inspire aspiring chefs and record-breakers across Africa and beyond.
