American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months (just over four years) in federal prison by a New York judge for transporting individuals for prostitution under the U.S. Mann Act. The verdict came after a high-profile trial that exposed years of alleged coercion and abuse behind the scenes of the hip-hop icon’s empire.
Judge Arun Subramanian also ordered Diddy to pay a $500,000 fine and serve five years of supervised release after prison. Though he was acquitted of more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges, the court rejected his defense that the acts were consensual, stressing the power imbalance and exploitation involved.
Diddy, 55, has already spent 13 months in custody, which will count toward his sentence. The ruling follows explosive testimony from former partners, including singer Cassie Ventura, who detailed abuse and manipulation.
