The decade-long paternity dispute surrounding Afrobeats superstar David ‘Davido’ Adeleke has taken a dramatic turn as the mother of 12-year-old Mitchell Anuoluwapo Adeleke issues a fresh demand for international intervention to resolve the matter.
In a series of statements released this week, Ayotomide Labinjo alleged that previous DNA tests—which reportedly cleared the singer of paternity—were marred by irregularities and professional misconduct. Labinjo claims that a 2014 test was compromised, alleging she witnessed an exchange of bribes intended to alter the results.
Calls for International Supervision
Citing Davido’s dual citizenship, Labinjo announced her intent to petition the U.S. State Department and international forensic bodies to oversee a new round of testing.
“We are no longer seeking tests conducted behind closed doors in local clinics,” a representative for the family stated. “To ensure the truth is established beyond any doubt, we are requesting that independent international authorities supervise the collection and analysis of samples.”
The Daughter Speaks Out
The tension reached a peak on January 15, 2026, when Mitchell Anuoluwapo addressed the public directly via social media. Now a teenager, Mitchell described the psychological burden of the unresolved claim, citing years of school bullying and “the pain of being denied by her biological father.”
“I am not asking for money; I am asking for the truth,” Mitchell stated in her post. “I want a DNA test that no one can hide from or manipulate.”
Davido Maintains Denial
Davido has consistently denied being the father of Mitchell. In response to the latest allegations, the singer’s legal team reiterated that the matter had been settled years ago through multiple negative test results.
In a brief response shared via his official channels, Davido dismissed the renewed claims as “baseless attempts at clout-chasing,” asserting that he has already submitted to five separate DNA tests across various facilities, all of which returned negative.
As the case moves toward potential international scrutiny, it remains one of the most high-profile and enduring paternity controversies in the history of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
