On Wednesday, 8 October 2026, Rockstar Games announced that the Nigerian Afrobeats superstar will co-host AfroBank FM alongside German DJ and producer Palms Trax for Grand Theft Auto VI, set to launch on 19 November 2026.

The inclusion of AfroBank FM marks a major moment of global recognition for contemporary African music, bringing regional sounds directly to one of the biggest entertainment properties in the world.

What to Expect

AfroBank FM will blend iconic 20th-century African classics and hidden gems with modern genres including amapiano and 3-step.

Early previews of the tracklist feature heavy-hitting anthems including “Joha” by Asake, “Gye Wani” by Pat Thomas & Ebo Taylor, and “Shay’sana” by DJ Lag & Robot Boii featuring Kamo Mphela.

New Ways to Listen

In a major gameplay update for GTA 6, players will no longer be restricted to listening to stations like AfroBank FM only while driving. The game introduces in-game headphones, allowing players to stream the station seamlessly on foot while exploring Leonida.

The feature extends the reach of the station beyond vehicles, meaning Burna Boy’s curatorial voice will accompany players through the game’s open world.

The Launch Lineup

AfroBank FM is one of six initial radio stations announced by Rockstar Games ahead of the November release.

It shares the airwaves with other celebrity-hosted stations, including Radio Vice hosted by Aphex Twin and Venezuelan artist Arca, Wave 103 hosted by The Weeknd and Oneohtrix Point Never, and V-Rock hosted by Jack Black.

Burna Boy’s Expanding Footprint

The announcement adds to Burna Boy’s growing list of firsts. He recently became the first Nigerian and Sub-Saharan African artist to cross 4 billion total views on YouTube. In 2021, he became the first Nigerian artist to surpass 1 billion views on the platform, and later became the first African artist to cross 4 billion streams as a lead artist on Spotify.
