Nigerian superstar Burna Boy delivered a historic debut performance in El Gouna this weekend, marking his first-ever show in Egypt and turning the Red Sea resort town into a massive Afrobeats celebration, as shown in a video captured by @billie_adeleke
The Grammy-winning artist took the stage at the El Gouna Conference and Culture Center at approximately 5:00 PM, delivering a relentless setlist featuring global anthems “Ye” and “Last Last,” alongside his 2025 sensation “Update,” which samples Soul II Soul’s “Back To Life.” Energetic renditions of “Gbona” and “It’s Plenty” kept the sold-out crowd moving throughout the coastal evening.
Originally scheduled for late March but postponed to April 11, the rescheduling only fueled anticipation. Fans travelled from across Egypt and the Middle East to witness the “African Giant” perform.
Organisers from Venture Lifestyle noted the atmosphere exceeded all expectations, with local commentators calling the event a “cultural bridge” highlighting West African music’s growing influence in Egypt’s entertainment scene.
Social media has since been flooded with videos showing Burna Boy’s signature stage presence and the crowd’s ecstatic reaction.
The success sets a high bar for international acts visiting the region this summer.
