Grammy-nominated global pop star Ayra Starr has been announced as the official opening keynote speaker for the 2026 Yale Africa Innovation Symposium (YAIS IV), set to take place April 16–18 at Yale University.

The Nigerian singer-songwriter will address attendees on leadership across the African continent and the diaspora, bringing her unique perspective as one of Africa’s most prominent musical exports.

The symposium, themed “Shaping Africa’s Future Through Innovation and Collaboration,” focuses on developing actionable solutions across various African industries.

“We are so excited to welcome Ayra to Yale University in April and to hear her insights on leadership across the African continent and the diaspora,” the organisation announced.

The three-day student-led event features Innovation Labs concentrating on Financial Services, Healthcare, and Digital Content Creation, alongside “The Great Debate” and a closing Grand Gala at the Omni Hotel in New Haven.

The symposium aims to promote intellectual curiosity regarding African development and culture, targeting students and young professionals eager to engage with the continent’s emerging opportunities.

Ayra Starr’s appearance marks a significant moment for the conference, bridging entertainment and thought leadership as Africa’s creative economy continues to gain global recognition.
