Nigerian sensation Ayra Starr is being heralded as the future of global music in a new feature from Spotify’s Frequency initiative.

The platform’s “Frequency Zine” social series profiles the artist, describing her “celestial confidence” and role in showing “what global stardom can look like for the next generation.”

The feature emphasises Starr’s genre-defying artistry and honest self-expression, noting she “moves freely, creating her own space” through both music and writing. It also confirms that 2026 is “already taking shape around her,” with a highly anticipated new album on the horizon.

Launched in 2021, Frequency is Spotify‘s global, year-round hub dedicated to amplifying Black artistry, creativity, and culture. By spotlighting Starr, the initiative underscores its mission to champion defining voices shaping the musical landscape.

Her inclusion alongside other creators in programs like “The Free Studio” residency highlights her influence as a central figure in contemporary Black expression.
