Ashley Okoli, the self-proclaimed “Queen Mother of Alté,” is back with a visual statement that reminds us why she remains one of Nigeria’s most daring fashion forces.

In a striking Black-and-white studio shot, the 28-year-old creative director, stylist, and designer serves pure editorial energy — a silhouette that feels part rockstar, part afro-futurist warrior, and entirely Ashley.

Captured mid-pose against a stark white backdrop, Ashley extends one arm forward, palm open like she’s directing traffic or commanding attention.

The look is a masterclass in controlled chaos: a sleeveless, draped Black top left open at the sides, exposing her torso; high-waisted Black flare pants with dramatic cut-outs along the thighs and hips, held together by large white buttons; and a long, fringed silhouette that moves with her.

She accessorised with a long silver necklace bearing a large star pendant, stacked cuffs, multiple rings, and a massive Black woven tote with extra-long fringe. Her hair was pulled into a high ponytail with light braided extensions, while bleached brows, a nose stud, and a lip piercing completed the avant-garde beauty look.

The message, however, was just as striking as the outfit. She captioned the image: “We almost back to regular programming, almost.”

Okoli, who has spent nearly a decade dismantling conservative fashion norms and building a global creative footprint — from styling Alté music videos to representing Lagos on the Victoria’s Secret World Tour — this image is a statement of intent, a return to form, and a reminder that for the “Black Sheep” of Nigerian fashion, pressure is never her portion.
