Edo State is celebrating a fresh wave of youth and creativity in governance as Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has appointed Munirat Antoinette Lecky—fondly known as Anto Lecky, as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Creative Economy.

Effective June 23, 2025, the appointment was confirmed in a letter from the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor. For many in Edo and beyond, the news marks a bold step toward repositioning the state as Nigeria’s cultural capital.
Anto Lecky, who captured national attention as a semi-finalist on Big Brother Naija, has since grown into a multifaceted force in entertainment, advocacy, and leadership. Her résumé sparkles with roles: Arts and Special Projects Lead at ElectHER, Programme Manager at Kunle Afolayan Productions Film and Television Academy, Head of Operations at Nigeria’s first private basketball league, and host of Sights of Flavours on DStv. Most recently, she served as Special Assistant on Digital and New Media to the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu.

Her appointment comes at a crucial moment as Edo prepares for the historic return of the Benin bronzes and invests in landmark museum projects. With her blend of global exposure and local passion, Anto embodies the new face of Edo’s cultural revival—youthful, innovative, and unapologetically proud of heritage.
Edo now looks to her as a voice that will not only amplify tourism but also create new opportunities for young creatives to shine.
