Former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua delivered a decisive victory on Friday night, knocking out YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul in the sixth round at Miami’s Kaseya Center.
Anthony Joshua knocks out Jake Paul in 6th round of heavyweight fight
The much-anticipated match saw Joshua, a 36-year-old Olympic gold medalist, methodically break down his opponent. After a slow start where Paul used movement to survive, Joshua scored two knockdowns in the fifth round before ending the fight with a series of heavy shots in the sixth. The referee stopped the contest at 1:31 of the round after Paul was dropped for the fourth time.
Paul later confirmed he suffered a double jaw fracture from Joshua’s punches, sharing an X-ray on social media. Despite the one-sided loss, he vowed to continue his boxing career and target a cruiserweight title.
In victory, Joshua called out longtime British rival Tyson Fury, challenging him to finally settle their feud in the ring. The win marks Joshua’s successful return after a 15-month layoff and resets his path toward the heavyweight championship.
