AMVCA 2026: Bovi, Nomzamo Mbatha to host as Joke Silva leads jury

The 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) will take centre stage on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Lagos, celebrating the best of African film, television and digital content across 32 categories.

Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha will co‑host the main ceremony, while veteran actress and producer Joke Silva serves as head judge.

Leading the nominations are films such as Gingerrr, The Herd, and To Kill A Monkey, which have secured multiple nods across key categories. In the Best Lead Actor race, William Benson, Lateef Adedimeji and Uzor Arukwe are among the contenders. Best Lead Actress nominees include Linda Ejiofor, Bimbo Akintola and Genoveva Umeh.

Supporting acting categories feature Lateef Adedimeji, Gabriel Afolayan, Linda Ejiofor, Bisola Aiyeola and Funke Akindele. New awards for Best Indigenous Language Film in North and Central Africa have also been introduced.
