American rapper and streamer DDG has officially confirmed he is travelling to Nigeria this December, fulfilling a promise to connect with his roots following the viral discovery of his 22% Nigerian heritage.
The announcement marks a significant turn for the artist, who earlier in 2025 faced online friction with some Nigerian fans. After revealing his DNA results, DDG playfully demanded a “nationwide apology,” asserting his identity as a “son of the soil.”
He has since become a vocal ambassador for the culture, frequently sharing his admiration for the country’s energy and music scene.
A major highlight of his upcoming visit is a scheduled collaboration with Nigerian comedian and singer Carter Efe. DDG has publicly praised Efe’s creativity, stating he wants to help bring the creator’s “unique style” to a global audience through a joint livestream.
Beyond content creation, DDG has hinted at more permanent plans, expressing a desire to eventually relocate to Lagos to escape the “exhausting” pace of the U.S. industry.
His arrival coincides with the peak of “Detty December,” the country’s premier festive season, where he is expected to join other international stars for high-profile performances and cultural events.
