The Africa Choice Awards have announced that its planned physical ceremony in South Africa for the 2026 edition will not proceed, with the awards moving to a digital format instead.

Winners will be announced online on Monday, 26 October 2026 through the organisation’s official platforms.

In a statement issued on 23 October 2026, the organisers said the decision followed sustained efforts to deliver a physical ceremony, describing a series of unforeseen circumstances and challenges beyond their control.

“The decision has not been taken lightly,” the statement read. “The physical edition represents a significant investment of time, effort and commitment, and the change in direction has taken a considerable toll on the brand and the team working to bring the event together.”

The organisation said protecting the integrity of the awards and ensuring nominees and honorees receive recognition remained the priority.

“The decision to move to a digital edition does not reflect a lack of commitment to the awards or to celebrating African excellence. Rather, it is a necessary response to circumstances that have made the physical ceremony unviable at this time.”

Following the digital announcement, each winner will be contacted privately to discuss arrangements for the delivery of their award trophy.

Africa Choice Awards is a Pan-African platform recognising achievements across entertainment, culture and other fields shaping Africa’s contemporary identity.

It operates under ACA Media Group.

The organisation thanked nominees, honorees, voting audiences, partners and the wider community for their patience and continued support.

The full winners list will be published on the official Africa Choice Awards channels on Monday.
